Vacation Montana!
~ Montana Lodging At Its BEST ~
S u m m e r Time!
It's Summer!
And the living is e
a s y
In many ways Summer speaks for itself
And Summer really has a lot
to say in Montana...
Swimming
Swim in the warmest lake in the Flathead Valley, right outside your
door.
When many people are dipping their toes in most other lakes,
you and your family will be diving right in the water.
Warm and extremely clean, fed by artesian springs.
Fishing
Get the hooks out and lures lined up, 'cause your
going fishing!
Your vacation home, right on Echo Lake, is
centrally located to
excellent lake and river fishing. Cast off your
private dock into a popular
fishing cove or troll Echo lake, recognized as
the premier warm-water fishery
in the Flathead Valley. Fish the Flathead River,
a "Blue-Ribbon Stream"
only about 5 minutes from your vacation home. The
Swan River, set deep
in the woods and close to wildlife, provides a
particularly remote, uniquely
beautiful setting for casting out your line. And
"the Swan" is also only
about 5 minutes from your vacation home.
An abundance of fish including largemouth bass,
northern pike,
rainbow and cutthroat trout, and yellow perch.
Expect to catch fish!
Golf at the highly acclaimed Eagle
Bend Golf Course in Bigfork, only about 5 minutes
from your lakeshore vacation home.
Hiking
Hiking opportunities abound, the most famous hiking areas being in
nearby Jewel Basin,
Glacier National Park, and Bob Marshall and Great Bear Wilderness
Areas.
"The Jewel", encompassing over 15,000 acres of wilderness and
35 miles of trails connecting
28 alpine lakes, is acclaimed as one of the most beautiful hiking areas
in the United
States with abundant wildlife, lots of wildflowers, and spectacular
panoramas.
Located in the Swan Mountain Range of the Northern Rockies, Jewel
Basin is only about 5 minutes from your vacation home.
Biking
Walking
Miles of country roads and trails in the area immediately surrounding
your vacation home
afford a variety of biking and walking adventures.
Boating
Canoeing
Water-skiing
Jet skiing
Tubing
Your lakeshore vacation home includes a private dock for your boat and
other watercraft.
Enjoy a wide variety of water sports and activities to your heart's
content on a 725 acre
island dotted warm-water lake.
Rafting
Popular white-water and floating adventures are found on many nearby
rivers, including
the Middle and North Forks of the "Wild and Scenic" Flathead
River.
Wildlife viewing
An abundance of wildlife is throughout the area including immediately
around your vacation home.
In addition to designated wildlife viewing areas, where you can watch
ospreys dive for fish, eagles nest,
and mountain goats climb, a variety of wildlife can be found in your
immediate surroundings.
Deer frequently grace the property of your vacation home, and may even
swim onto the
property from islands where they have been feeding, while ducks, geese,
osprey, heron,
and even an eagle or two fly between islands and nesting sites on the
lake. There is
plenty of wildlife to view and admire, including right from the deck of
your vacation home.
"Restauranting"
The Flathead Valley is a dining experience! You have certainly taken a
break from the fast lane when
you come to Northwest Montana but you would never know you "got
away from it all" when it
comes to the restaurants. Most every dining taste can be satisfied in
the Flathead Valley.
Vacation Montana! provides guidance on restaurants but our vacationeers tell us
more
about great restaurants in the area than we tell them. There are so
many restaurants serving
delicious food of all sorts, and so many left to discover, that the
list of wonderful dining
experiences is long and growing. From Italian cuisine to Chinese to
Continental to good ol'
"steak and potatoes", there are restaurants in nearby
Bigfork, Kalispell, and Whitefish to
serve your tastes and those of your family and companions to your
complete satisfaction.
We're not quite sure why there is such a boom of quality restaurants up
here, but there is and
it benefits all of our taste buds.
Bon Appetit!
Cherry picking
&
Huckleberries
The Flathead Valley is a prime cherry growing
region where acres upon acres of cherry trees
are found, bursting with red plump deliciously
sweet cherries. Cherry tree groves come in all
sizes up here, from cherry tree farms to a
handful of trees in a person's front yard. You are
often welcome to "pick your own", at a
nominal cost or, maybe, even for free (if you make
the right kind of friends). And, of course,
cherries can always be found at the many cherry
stands in the area. So be sure to take time with
your family and companions to pick lots of
cherries, bagfuls of 'em!
Because, frankly, there is nothing more yummy
than a Flathead Valley cherry!
While not getting the kind of commercial
attention that sweet cherries have, huckleberries
have special qualities of their own in the
Flathead Valley. Found in wild groves in the
Valley's foothills, these purple colored treats
are a favorite for many a local sweet-tooth.
Indeed, many local residents pick huckleberries
in the foothills below the Jewel Basin of
the Swan Mountains, a wooded area thick with
berry-bushes only about 5 minutes from
your vacation home. While out there picking
berries, remember that them bears
love huckleberries too. Just be aware and keep
your distance, it is a
lot more fun to be picking than it is to be
running.
You'll love those huckleberries, delightfully
delicious!!
And various other
activities, including
Horseback and llama riding
Rock climbing
Motorcycle touring
Antiquing
Exploring
Picture taking
or just hanging out
by the lake with a cool one in your hand
and a bowl of cherries and berries by your side
~
And you have not even driven through
Glacier National Park yet.
The drive through the Park, on Going-to-the-Sun
Road, is one of the
most magnificent, beautiful, and memorable drives that
you and your family will ever take
together.
Experience the grandeur of the Park, now
and forever!
- Glacier
National Park is only about 45 minutes from your vacation home -
