Not letting you into Nature,
but allowing you to imagine it
Its ever-extending magnificence
Glory and beauty
Simplicity, and infinite complexity

Montana
In her height and breadth
Enormity and depth
and sheer splendor
Full of attitude and arrogance
Glances at Man
with amused silence
The force of her Nature
Humbles us

While the rest of the world may give you
an inch
Montana is my
quarter mile of peace

Lewis and Clark
Great explorers
for a Northwest Passage
Found a land of unique experience
Introduced by a Grizzly
Spit out by the Bitterroots
Larger, harder, longer, higher, more alive
Mother Nature
Suckling Montana to her breast
Did not take kindly
Man's intrusion
Viewing us then
with wary eyes
Viewing us now
unimpressed
