Montana Lodging At
Its BEST
~ People Who Love Winter ~
In
Montana, winter beauty is a beauty all its own
Summer beauty is raw and tall and in your face
Fall beauty is quiet like an expanse of color
Or the patter of a soft falling rain
But winter beauty is all cast in white
With snowflakes that can be as big as your
outstretched hand
Softly parading before you
And lighting down on you
Mountains stretch gorgeously in a stark white
pose
Full of strength and drama in their new winter
clothes
Vain cocky
Arrogant showy
Wintry mountains demand our attention
And GET it!
Thin slight fingers of ice
Delicately connected
Web through an expanse of naked branches
Holding the tree together
Prisming the rays of a morning sun
Framing it in a halo of grandeur
You appreciate the enormity of such a season
With qualities that contrast and collide
But, together, fit so well
Marked by fragility and strength
Fineness and grandness
Ferocity and gentleness
And keen independence
Taking over your senses
Giving them back only later
Leaving you with precious gifts
Of vivid memories
And distinct pleasures
~
Winter
in Montana is a lovely time
And is loved
For all the special things
That only it can bring
People who love winter. . .
They love its
snow, sports, and fun
From skiing and sledding
To snowmobiling and ice skating
Snow in the country provides a much better
time
Than snow in the city!
They love fire
from a hearth
Crackling and strong
Warming themselves and loved ones
In a blanketed embrace
Cooking marshmallows on crooked sticks
Deep dark runny
Trying not to burn their tongues
Together with their families
Or special persons in their lives
Affording a sweet intimacy
Only a fire in the winter can bring
They love winter
play
Snowpersons
Snow ball fights
Snow down their backs
Or in their pants
And the laughs and shrieks of their children
Who love snow only as children can
They love
watching animals
In their winter routines
Going about their tasks
With such apparent ease
Herds of deer walk across iced-over lakes
Journeying to islands for food and sap-breaks
Some fall through the ice every now and again
And scramble back up from their quite chilly
dip
Safe and wet, quickly shaking it off
Trot back to the herd
To continue their trip
Winter birds all the while
Flying floating
Gliding drifting
Watch Nature's movements
From far overhead
They love a snow
freshly fallen
Pure crisp bright
Like a soft feathery down
And always to the children's delight!
Winter is lots of lovely things
To people who love winter

In
Montana
Warmth happens in many ways
I have been warm
during the coldest of Winter's nights
Not only from the heat of an inflamed hearth
Or a wood stove roaring below
Or a cup's rising steam
drifting up my nose
But just
A look toward a window
At a lightly falling snow
Cold icy crystals
Peering in through the glass
Stark white, full of contrast
Twisting, touching in a close, slow dance
Make me feel warm and good
Like nothing else can

Having
seen snow in so many ways
Seen through my heart
As well as my eyes
I can only marvel
As it falls and stretches out
That something so cold
As it touches the skin
Can feel deep inside
So incredibly hot!
